To start adding subscribers, you can import an existing list or create contacts one by one. From your selected Audience, use Import or Create at the bottom of the page.
Steps
- Open your Audience
Go to Contacts → Audiences, select the Audience you want to populate.
- Choose how to add subscribers
- Click Import to upload a list (CSV).
- Click Create to add a single contact manually.
- Import a CSV (bulk add)
- Upload your file and map fields (at minimum: phone number).
- (Optional) Map name, email, tags, custom fields.
- Confirm you have explicit consent to text these contacts.
- Start the import and wait for the confirmation.
- Create a Single Contact (one-by-one)
- Enter the contact’s phone number and any additional details.
- Save to add them to the Audience immediately.
Tips
- Custom Fields: Create custom fields to store extra data (e.g., birthday, last purchase, membership tier) for better segmentation later.
- Lead Magnets: Prefer to capture new subscribers automatically? Create a Lead Magnet (e.g., keyword, form, QR code) that feeds contacts directly into this Audience.
- Ready to send: Once contacts exist in the Audience, you can start sending Campaigns to them.
Best Practices
- Consent first: Only upload or add contacts who have opted in to receive texts.
- Clean data: Use valid phone formats (ideally E.164, e.g., +1XXXXXXXXXX).
- Enrich smartly: Add names and relevant tags to enable personalization and segmentation.
Troubleshooting
- Invalid phone numbers: Fix formatting and remove extra characters/spaces.
- Duplicates detected: The importer may skip exact duplicates; review near-duplicates in your file.
- Required fields missing: Ensure the phone number column is present and correctly mapped.
